Turn on the news, pay your bills, go out to eat, or genuinely examine life in USA compared to any other place in the world and you’ll quickly see why it’s time to leave the US. Nobody is enjoying the pangs of late-stage-capitalism in the US besides the ultra-elites, and everyone else who claims they are is lying. One side of the political spectrum screams about making America Great. The other side asks for affordable education, healthcare, and safety for their children. None of these things should be a fight, but they are in USA.
There is no denying the fact that education and healthcare should be affordable. Also no denying the fact that groceries should be affordable. And definitely no denying the fact that USA pumps chemicals into their food. Chemicals that don’t exist in food elsewhere, including developing countries. The US poisons it’s citizens. It also run’s for-profit-prisons. It also denies it’s citizens affordable health-care.
Enough is Enough
If you are anything like I am, you’re sick of it. Sick of the high costs. Sick of the false sense of safety. Fed up with the political strife. Tired of the high expatiations for everyone about everything. Work-life-balance in the US is simply off. You do not need to work that much. You do not need to pay that much to live. The American dream is a lie. You know it, but you’re afraid to leave. I knew it for years before I was ready to leave.
I kept running up that hill, trying desperately to be better, do to more, to be enough for USA. But no matter how hard I tried, I kept falling back down to the bottom. Back to my fear. Back to my addictions. Kept thinking “this time will be different. This time I will try harder.” Then something like COVID would happen. All my hard work would disappear and I would be back to square one, again.
Time for a Change
It’s time for a change and you know it, but what is going to get you to stop doom-scrolling, get off your butt and move? For me, it began with selling my stuff and embracing minimalism. Then I replaced that stuff with more travel-friendly, packable stuff. Also, you’re going to need the greatest document our country provides, that US Passport. After getting that, it should become that last important document of your life.
There are many places to start anew, You already speak the Lingua Franca, so you’re already off to a head start. Yes, English is the most widely-spoken, and widely-desired language in the world! No need to learn another language. Pretty much everywhere around the world is either already adapted, or trying to adapt to English. You’ll be surprised to find that they even use US dollars here, though the system is more complicated than you may think.
This does not mean that you shouldn’t learn the local language. Simply that you should not feel pressured to do-so. You can learn it when you get there, as you go. One of the top opportunities for work abroad, ironically, is teaching English. It offers competitive pay, travel flexibility, and the chance to immerse yourself in different cultures.
More Doable Than You Think
You might think it’s impossible. Or even that it is a pipe-dream. I am here to tell you that it is not. If this loser can do it, anyone can do it. If I can make my dreams come true, anyone can. There are no words to explain how much of a loser I once was. But I will try my best to explain it in my blog. Hopefully you’ll see that if this guy can do it, you certainly can.
